Victoria Harbour Activation Strategy and Place Management
Bringing people and ideas to Victoria Harbour
The Space Agency was engaged by Lendlease to design a strategy for activating ground floor tenancies in Victoria Harbour, with the goal of driving visitation and establishing the place profile of Tom Thumb Lane: a new retail laneway facing Buluk Park and the Library at the Dock.
Following our on-the-ground research and consultations, we settled on a theme of ‘knowledge sharing.’ This theme was a key connector between workers, residents and visitors in Victoria Harbour. Exploring this idea further, we uncovered that many start-ups, alternative education providers and community organisations were unable to find high-quality spaces in Melbourne CBD to host workshops, learning activities and events.
The Knowledge Market was developed as a versatile free-to-book event and co-working space dedicated to peer-to-peer learning. The Space Agency designed the space and brand, and provided a venue manager to manage bookings and events.
The venue was managed by The Space Agency for 12 months. Over this period, more than 500 events were held, attracting 5,500 people to the area.
