Land Parcel Activation Strategy
Creating a filter to identify assess and activate underutilised land
Melbourne Water is the second largest land-holder in Victoria after the Crown. The Space Agency was engaged by Melbourne Water to assess all underutilised land across their portfolio in order to identify locations that could be activated.
The goal of activation was to improve the liveability of neighbourhoods by enhancing the natural environment, creating places for community, and developing partnerships that enables spaces to be used by more people.
The Space Agency, in partnership with Spiire, developed a custom land filter that could be used to assess not just the planning constraints and physical attributes of each land parcel, but also the needs of the local area and community.
The Space Agency will continue to work with Melbourne Water to develop implementation frameworks and engage partners to assist with delivery of each activation.
